We're excited that you can now select DoorDash as a on-demand delivery option!
With on-demand delivery, when orders are placed on your Square Online ordering page, a DoorDash courier will be automatically dispatched to deliver the order to its final destination.
By enabling DoorDash as your on-demand delivery fulfillment option:
- Diners who place a delivery order on your website will receive a text confirmation with an estimated delivery time.
- A DoorDash courier will arrive at your location to pick-up the order.
- A text confirmation is sent to the customer so they can track the location of the courier.
- Order is delivered by the DoorDash courier.
How do I get started?
1. Go to your Square Online Overview page > Settings > Pickup & Delivery.
2. Choose a location and toggle on Accept delivery orders.
3. Select On-Demand Delivery.
4. Choose DoorDash as your preferred courier service.
5. Finish setting up all other delivery features and select Save.
Note: By selecting On-Demand Delivery as your delivery option and proceeding, you agree to the On-Demand Delivery Terms of Service.
What are the fees for on-demand delivery with DoorDash?
- Square charges a $1.50 dispatch fee to your business for orders placed through On-Demand Delivery. DoorDash charges a $6.99 fixed fee for up to a 3-5 mile radius (DoorDash does not support deliveries outside of a 5 mile range). The delivery fee can be paid by the customer, split between you and the customer, or paid entirely by you as a free delivery promotion if the order meets your minimum requirements.
- You will still be charged a processing fee of 2.9% + 30¢ per transaction (or your custom card-no-present rate) for Square Online purchases.
- Note for California sellers: California recently passed Proposition 22, which goes into effect on December 16, 2020. Starting January 4, 2021, DoorDash will automatically increase delivery fees per order by $2. The delivery fee your customers will see will change from $6.99 to $8.99 for deliveries up to 3-5 miles.
What if a customer contacted me and the order never arrived, or the order is delayed?
You can track the order by using the DoorDash Portal. The DoorDash Portal allows you to access the following:
- Customer information
- Order number
- Dasher name & status (normal, preferred, blocked)
- Pickup timestamp
- Delivery timestamp
- View delivered item (if it’s a no contact delivery)
You can also escalate the issue to DoorDash by emailing or calling them at: drive-support@doordash.com, 1 (855) 599-7066. You can appeal a refund decision, discuss additional refunds, or provide feedback on a Dasher. Please make sure to state that it’s a DoorDash Drive Delivery, and provide the Business name, Customer Name, and Delivery ID.
How can I view the exact breakdown of delivery fees for each order?
You can export a full delivery fee breakdown report by following the directions below:
- Visit your Square Online Overview page > Orders > Export Orders.
- For Report Type, choose Delivery fee breakdown report.
- When you are done, select Export.
We'll then send you an email with a download link as soon as your export file is ready, which is sent to the email address associated with your Square Online account. If you don't receive the download link within ten minutes, please be sure you're checking the right email address and/or its spam folder.
