When I switch to Square from another cc company, do I need to use different hardware?

I'm currently use square pos and we have a different cc company we're using to accept cards. We're  ready to switch everything to square. When I start using the square hardware will it start a new pos, or will it keep using the same pos I'm currently using? Is there a different version the hardware uses?

If you're already using the Square Point of Sale app, then all you'll need to to to accept cards is to use the headphone/lightning swiper or one of the contactless solutions. You can order a swiper reader for free and/or a contactless reader from your Square dashboard (Account & Settings -> Square Accessories -> Card Reader).

If you're upgrading your hardware, all you'll have to do is sign into your current Square account on the new hardware. All your items and some of your settings should already be in place.
