How can I create a discount for purchasing two or more items, applied to the total, not each item?

Hello everyone! I've found phone and chat support to be ineffective and frustrating at best.  Does anyone know of a pro level support number where you can get advanced,  personalized support, even if it's a paid subscription service? I use square for 20 clients and could use a responsive knowledgeable tech support contact versus someone at a call center who is reading all the same info as I can see posted online.

@Winelover99 I will be honest, this forum is your best bet, but the turnaround time will depend on who is on and what exactly you are needing answered.  I run 4 different stores with about 20 tablets and various other devices.  I can help with a lot of things. Connecting here is usually fastest for me.

Firstly, welcome to the Community!

I agree with @Donnie-M that our Seller Community is the best place to get questions answered by our Community team and experienced sellers.

I tested a similar discount on my end, and currently, there isn't a way to add a rule to apply it to only one item since all items qualify for the $5 discount. I recommend submitting this as a feature request in our Ideate Room. Our Product Team regularly monitors this forum to enhance our products based on valuable feedback.

To address your second question, when you mention the $5 off applying even for a single item purchase, are you referring to when you are making the sale or when the customer is making the purchase? As the owner, you can apply the discount even if it's against the rule, but your customers cannot.

If customers can see the discount with just one item in their cart, please share your website URL so we can investigate further.

Let me look at bundles..that might be the best way to do something like this.

@Winelover99 The quick solution is that when click on an item the discount is a slider at the bottom of the item in the point of sale..you can toggle a discount on or off for items individually.  So it can be done, but it is a training issue with the current set up.

When you hit the discount it will auto go on all items, but you can toggle a discount on and off at the item level.  

I looked at bundles and that is for Retail Plus and allows you to add several items together for one price but you can't use modifiers and the bundles are preset combinations.

@Winelover99 Sorry did a little more testing and I found this combination that works as an automatic discount.

This caps the discount at 5$
