I got on of the new chip readers and it doesn't stay charged?

After i process one chip card transaction my reader does not work anymore...when i plug it in the orange light comes on already...I have had to manually type in all my sales.

With the Chip readers, they die fast.   Charge it up until the green light comes on.  Then don't plug it into your device until you are ready to use it.  Once plugged into your device the chip reader is constantly communicating.  This drains the battery.  I would recommend the Contactless Chip reader if you use it on a regular basis throughout the day.  Once the reader is dead it should allow you to swipe the cards.
