Beta: Manage your Kitchen Directly with Square KDS, Now Testing

We know your restaurant is looking for the best way to effectively manage your kitchen orders, which is why we have created Square’s first KDS. We’re looking for restaurants to help us test this new product and be part of creating this with your business top-of-mind.

 

With Square KDS, you’ll be able to view orders from Square for Restaurants, Square Point of Sale, Square Online Store, BentoBox, GoParrot, WooCommerce, Craverm, Chowly, PoppinPay, Ecwid and several others directly on Ipad.

🛑 Stop right there! Before you jump in, let's talk about a few restrictions and limitations. 

 

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Square KDS is only supported on iPads using iOS 13 and above
  • We do not currently support Open Tickets/Checks for this Beta
  • The KDS app will work alongside your current printer setup
  • Not currently available on Square Register (we'll reach out when it's ready)
  • We're currently recruiting for US based businesses, but will be opening in other locales soon. Mark your Country if you're interested in testing outside of the US.

I'd be interested in this.  We do open tickets for in restaurant, but delivery/to go/cuboh tickets are closed and that would work temporarily.

Is there a rough timeline estimate of when open tickets will be added?  Excited to get this rolling.  With all orders (online, dine in, to go, etc) collectively displaying on one screen would be a huge help for our kitchen.  Thanks!

So we tested the KDS full tilt last night on a fairly busy night since open tickets just became available.  There was one major issue we had that I'm hoping can be fixed soon.  When servers would split a ticket with multiple items on it before cashing out the customers, the split tickets would then show up again on the kds and were made again by the kitchen because they show up as new tickets.  We made A LOT of food twice last night due to this issue.  Took us a bit to figure out what was going on.  Hopefully someone can pass this along to the kds team.  Thanks!

@streetsideky Thank you for bringing this up to our attention! Engineering is aware of this issue and actively working on it. 

 

We don't have an ETA on the fix yet but we'll let you know as soon as we have an update!
