Order flow for online orders thru Square for Restaurants, Printers & Fresh KDS
Setting up online ordering but definitely not understanding exactly how it's supposed to flow. Setting up the website and ordering portal was easy and intuitive but what we do once the order is placed is a little confusing. The only place I can see online orders coming in Square for Restaurants is under Transactions? I know I can bring them up under orders in the Dashboard but that's not something we normally keep pulled up and I don't think you can print or send to monitors from there. I'm sure I'm missing something. How are we notified when an order comes in and where does it show up? And how do we print the ticket out and get it to display on Fresh KDS for preparation in the kitchen? Even if we get a printed ticket, I have 5 monitors in the kitchen for different stations so reading off one ticket in a rush would be difficult. I just can't seem to find the information to connect the dots. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am not using Square Online ordering yet. may start using it for my fixed priced items. What is the fee for online orders paid at my farmers market with Apple Pay?

That is quite a price difference 2.9% + $0.30 for online or through QR Code and 2.6% + 0.10
No need for me to use QR code

I think @Donnie-M is the perfect person to answer this! I believe he uses Square Online, Restaurants, Printers and a KDS!

@BajaGrill I missed this one but I have been using this for quite a while and hope this helps.
Under the device management tab -----> Device ----> scroll all the way to the bottom and there is a slider for manager online orders on point of sale...
Toggle this one
Then under printers you would go to the printer you want to use for online orders (categories still work like you are used to) and set each printer for the online order to allow them to print. You scroll down in the app and either hit automatically print new orders or print in progress orders. The tickets will match up to your existing settings I believe.
Key tips:
1. Only have 1 tablet auto printing orders and set it to not sleep/screen time out. Don't fuss just do it! solves 90% of printing problems.
2. You have 2 choices in the online dashboard under managing workflow. Either mark orders as in progress and then complete or auto. I use the mark orders in progress workflow. We hit each order to mark it in progress (messages customer) and then complete (also messages customer) this is the best experience for the guest imo. We have a dedicated kitchen tablet running PoS app just for managing online orders. And yes you can manage it on the restaurants app also or use the PoS app (without additional charge) just to handle these.
Fresh KDS will auto color code those orders for you. We even have ours set to print the fountain drinks on a receipt printer on the front counter to cue our cashiers to have their cups ready for the online orders that come from the back. I'll try to do a video soon to show our flow!.

To see your online orders as they come in.
You have to have the device you wish to see the orders on, have the setting on for "Online Orders"
From dashboard Goto
Devices- Click the device or device group you wish to set to see "Online Orders"
Inside the setting for that device/Devices you should see a option for "Allow Online Orders"
then when that is set.
On Your square for restaurant home screen your see "Orders" in the same item bar as Transactions.
select it and you'll see all your online order features there.
