Add Customization

I offer bandanas on my website. My customers can purchase them plain or they can add their dogs name on them. If they add their dogs name onto the bandanas, there are 5 customized questions I need answered from them.

Is there a way I can ask the customer if they would like customization on the bandana as a yes or no question? If their answer is no, they can checkout and if their answer is yes, the rest of my questions will then be asked?

The way my shop is set up now is it will ask every customer all the customization questions even if they don’t want any done.

How my selections are:

• Size (drop down selection)

• Pups Name (fill in box)

• Choose your font (drop down selection)

• Font Color (drop down selection)

• Single or Double Vinyl

• Name Placement

How I’d like my selections

• Add Your Pup’s Name? (drop down selection)

If it’s a ‘No’ answer, they would continue checking out.

If it’s a ‘Yes’ answer, they would answer the remaining customization questions I have.

Currently this is not possible.  It is considered what I would call a "Conditional Modifier" that has modifiers associated when you choose it.  It is a feature request but I have no idea on a time line if it happens.

What you can do in the online version of the square online dashboard is do a modifier as a text box.  You can go into the item and make a modifier and call it "Add your Pup's Name (Must select Yes Above)" and assign a text box.  Then make the modifier that says "Yes add my Pup's Name & No I do not want the custom name"  I would assign the cost to the Yes and 0 to no.  I would also make this modifier required.  I would make sure to drag this modifier above the text box modifier.  So when they view the item they will see the Yes or No question (with the cost) and the text box right afterwards.

I do understand someone will try to input a name and not click the yes or no, but since it is required they have to pick one.  If the customer picks NO and tries to put in a name..just don't put in a name because the item detail will say (No I do not want the custom name).  You could get really cheeky with it and put, No, I don't want the name, ignore anything I type in the next box!

Maybe this can get you where you want to go.

Is there a video showing how to do this?

While I do not have a way to share a video with you here I may be able to guide you to where you can find modifiers.

Starting from your Square Dashboard > Click Online > Items >  Site Items.

Select the desired item you would like to add a modifier.

Look for the section called Modifiers and click where it says Manage Modifiers.

Once there you should see the option to create a new modifier.

A new window will appear in which you can select a modifier with a checkbox or a Text Modifier.

From here you should be good to follow @Donnie-M's workaround.

I hope this information is helpful!
