Quick and Easy way to Boost your SEO Rank in Google

Google mentioned they are giving a boost to sites with SSL (http://searchengineland.com/google-starts-giving-ranking-boost-secure-httpsssl-sites-199446)  Since Weebly offers SSL (included for free in some plans), has anyone seen a bump in organic traffic?

If you have not and are looking to try, how will you measure the bump from SSL?

As Google noted in their blog HTTPS is only a very lightweight signal, in their ranking algorithm, but it does play a factor.
But that being said, I'm not aware of any way for *us* to really measure it with our site. I mean it would almost take two websites, with exactly the same content and ranking, but having one with SSL to be able to compare them which is nearly impossible to do as a user, especially because one website may be viewed more than the other. Even if your site went from http to https, there are a number of other factors that would have to be considered for ranking before you can assimilate that the SSL certificate is the cause for the bump. 

So, you pretty much have to take Google's word for it, at this point, that having an SSL certificate is going to help your site. After all every little bit helps, right?

It wouldn't be that hard to see the effects of SSL; for example, you could track the Alexa ranking of your site and others that are returned for similar search terms. If you see a bump in yourself next to your competitors after enabling SSL you could argue that was the cause.

Even without using Alexa or comparable sites, if I saw my ranking go up after enabling SSL and doing nothing else I'd feel comfortable attributing the rise to that.

It's probably more likely people would see the reverse of this, though, meaning that after Google made the change their ranking declined until they enabled SSL.

I've pretty much given up on Google. LOL
I run an independent film review site. That being said, Google doesn't like my page all that much.

Granted, using normal search terms, like say: " independent film reviews ", usually puts my site at the top or close to it. But my site ranking and such hasn't really increased over the last 6 or so years.

At first I tried everything SEO related... then found out none of that mattered for me.

Since my site is a review site, Google considers it a plagerist site, grabbing content from the web. Example being... movies and whatnot. It also flags me for "posting about content that isn't mine".

It doesn't matter that the films that are reviewed, are reviewed at the request of the creators. I don't review anything that isn't sent to me to be reviewed.

Kind of hard to explain this to Google though, since it's all pretty much automated.

I sure wish there was a way to boost my SEO though. lol. But nothing Weebly can help with.

You are right that having duplicate content can definately hurt your site, however I don't think that means you're blacklisted from Google. What kind of keywords are you trying to rank for? Have you setup On-page and Off-page SEO? What's the link to your site? I will check out your SEO.

I seem to be doing well with Google and Bing. My name (I'm an author) My Blog title, as well as, keywords within my blog posts and all of my merchandise also rank well. However, I would like to think a boost, any boost, would help drive more traffic. 

I would love to track better but have yet to really find a way that works well for me. Any insights would be awesome.
