Can't find my site?

I read the help guide and it said to fill out the SEO page in my settings. I just filled out the whole page and re-published my site. I'm still not showing up on the first page of Google. What did I do wrong? Please Help!

Hi ZepFan66,

SEO is a marathon and not a sprint. Just changing a few parts to your SEO on Weebly will not instantly raise you in the search engine rankings. It can take up to as much as 6 Months to even start rising on the rankings and you have to constantly tweak things here and there to get it going. Good backlinks, optimised images with alt tags, Blogs, content and site speed are all good starting places to help you rise.

I'm by no means an SEO professional, far from it, I know the basics, but this guide https://moz.com/beginners-guide-to-seo will get you started as it did me.

There will be things you can and cant do on Weebly which can be frustrating at times, but if you are like me and don't know any coding or anything, Weebly is still head and shoulders above most and will allow you to do the majority of basic SEO, but the main thing to remember is "content is king". Fill your site with useful and helpful content to generate backlinks. It hard. Its a pain and you'll wish you had never heard of SEO, but it's worth it if you want to gain traction against your competitors.

Just a few other pointers that I use on a daily basis -

  • Google and Weebly analytics - To see how your site reacts to customers and to check visits and pages
  • Google Webmaster - To spot errors and issues. It also checks a few backlinks amongst a whole host of other things
  • Feed the Bot - https://varvy.com/ - A great resource to check pages for SEO
  • Whats My Serp - http://www.whatsmyserp.com/ - Checks your actual rankings. Basically most browsers will display rankings on your browsing history and sites visited. This checks keywords with ACTUAL rankings.

I'm sure there are tons more, but this will help get you started. Its a slog. Its a drain on your time......but if you get it right and keep up to date it's worth it......Good Luck !
