Still no marquee app?

Apologies if this is a current topic. I can't find it, though I know it's an issue which has been raised in the past.

I want a marquee app - i.e. an app into which I can enter, say, half a dozen brief marketing messages which will then scroll, one after the other, through a header area. I thought Animator would do it, but no. I've tried html <marquee>, but no. This is such a simple request, I'm really surprised it's not baked into Weebly. But as it clearly isn't, does anyone know of an app that I've missed? Thanks.

Hi @NickR I think any of the slideshow apps would work for you. If none of these apps work for you, you could always embed third party code using the Embed Code option.

Thanks, Bernadette; but don't the slideshow apps work with images only? I've tried in the past to use jpg screen-shots of text in a slideshow, but that's a real hassle. As for third-party code, it's always based on the <marquee> instruction, in my experience, which means it judders badly. Also I can't schedule half-a-dozen, say, discrete messages: the only work-around seems to be a single long text-string divided by dozens of hard spaces. Again, a hassle.

Do you have a particular slideshow in mind that would do the job with text input?

Oh, I see what you mean. Maybe one of the Testimonial apps? This would allow you to enter the text you need and then the slide is generated. You should be able to toggle on/off what you want to show. i.e. you can toggle off the star rating and author so that only the text is visible. Otherwise, I suggest finding something on Google that provides an html code snippet that you can display on the site.

Thanks again, Bernadette. I've settled on Testimonial Slider, which more-or-less does the job. And I'll do a review to the developer to suggest that they add a simple layout which can do the marquee job more effectively, because they're missing out on potential demand. Meanwhile, problem solved.
