chip reader

More of a rant than a question. Love square, but its chip reader makes me crazy.  We have two vehicles (food truck) on which we use the square chip reader linked by blue tooth to iPhones.  We have excellent cellular service so transactions process quickly.  But it seems the chip readers are designed to have a short life span, and it's getting shorter.  It seems everyone we've ever purchased starts having problems after about 6 months.  

 

Saturday - establish the blue tooth link.  Working fine.  Then I get a text message and leave the square app to look at it.  Sometimes I need to check a new email with my iPhone or take a phone call.  Whether I'm off the square app few a few seconds, a minute or several minutes, I never know if it will reconnect.  Saturday it rarely reconnected automatically after re-opening the square app.  Sometimes I even have to "forget this device" on iPhone, or in the App, or both.  Sometimes it connects immediately without any action on my part when I re-open App.

 

Sunday - not only were there no problems like there were on Saturday, when I first opened the Square app it connected immediately to the reader - after more than 15 hours since last used on Saturday.  

 

Only solution that's a guarantee to work - buy a new reader.

Oh no @Konaiceccs!  this isn't the experience we want you to have. if this issue is ongoing and you have performed these troubleshooting steps please let me know so I can investigate this further.
