Store credits

Has anyone figured out how to allow customers to apply a credit to a sale or to store a credit under a customer profile? We don’t offer refunds, only store credits and when they want to apply it to a sale, it’s a lot of calculating and custom amounts which leads to manual stock removal (if we remember!). It’s a huge headache. Wish there was a way for it to be done by the system!

@DishNY We don't do returns or refunds as a coffee shop, BUT I have seen a business enter the store credit as a discount. So they would create a discount for a specific dollar amount and title the discount as the customer first and last name. Worked really well for them. But not sure how that would work for you.

I will look into that! Thank you! I didn’t know I could do a dollar amount as a discount! Does not completely solve the problem but it could help with the inventory issue!

@DishNY we have a store credit app, integrated with Square, that would enable you to very easily issue store credits to customers. Customers can add these to their mobile wallets and can use it anytime at your store at a later date. You can even put an expiration date on it. If this is still a requirement you can reach out to us at sales@pintuna.com

@DishNY ;

If you offer Gift Cards through Square you could fill the Gift Card with the $$ amount.  With the Square Gift Cards I believe they will only work for your store, so it would be like a Store Credit.  When the Gift Card balance hits zero, you can reuse the gift card for someone else then too or offer them for people to buy as a gift or thank you to your loyal customers.

There’s no way to fill a gift card without running a sale, either via credit card or cash. This affects the accuracy of your sales reports. This is why we don’t use this method.

Threads in the community go back to at least 2016 requesting in-store credit be a thing. It's very disheartening that Square hasn't dealt with this yet. Feeling like there are too many things like this with Square.

Couldn’t agree more! It’s such a difficult process when a customer wants to apply a paper credit to a sale, but we have to use “custom amounts” and then manually remove the items from stock afterwards (if it’s not busy and we remember…it really starts to effect inventory counts). There should be a way to store a credit under a customer profile and then apply it to a sale without altering anything in the shopping cart.
