Square Printing all Categories on Latest Android Version

Our Android tablet updated to the latest version today (6.46)and is now printing all categories on order tickets.

When I try to create a new printer profile it will only let me select all categories

I also have square on my android phone which is currently running an older (previous?) version 6.45.1 and have no problems in creating new profiles or printing selected categories.

Anyone else having a similar problem?

Thanks in advance.

Hello @Jay1 👋

Is this for the point-of-sale app or our Square for Restaurants app?

Let me know and I'll find out if this is a known issue.

Thank you.

Thanks for getting back to me

It's for the point of sale app

We have multiple categories but for the printer (star micronics) it doesn't display them.

Only on this android device after auto updating to version 6.46

We do not have an issue creating/editing printer profiles, but...

We have 3 square registers,  one updated to software version 6.46  and is now printing some categories (coffee) on ALL printers even though it is not supposed to print them on ANY printer.  This happened a few months ago , but then went away when the registers updated from software 6.41 to 6.41.3.     Now when one register updated from 6.45.1 to 6.46 last night it returned.  Two of our registers running 6.45.1 do NOT have this problem.  Tech support is not very helpful,  they asked me to recreate printer profiles (we have 6 of them) and delete the old ones.  I believe I did this last time and it helped although I am not exactly sure.  But I will take better notes this time.   This is very frustrating.   They need a way to rollback software updates if you want ...

I created new printer profiles and installed them, they did not solve the issue.  But when I restarted the misbehaving register the problem went away.   I only installed new profiles on 2 of the printers and not a 3rd.  However the problem went away on all 3 printers.  I hope a simple restart is the solution - I will find out when our last 2 registers update their software!

Hi @HanaleiBreadCo, thanks for posting.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience, and that you're running into some issues with your hardware.

Did you restart all your Registers or only one of them ? Have you tried performing a factory reset as well ? You'll find all the steps about factory resetting here (note that you will have to re-create your printer profiles if you do a reset).

I did restart the misbehaving register after installing new printer profiles and it was fine.   The other two were still running older software and were fine (and still are as of today)  I refuse to do a factory reset because it takes a long time to get all your settings back.

p.s. the register that was running 6.46 is now running 6.46.1  so it appears maybe the bug was fixed?  Is there any way to see release notes for the SW releases and versions?

Hi @HanaleiBreadCo, apologies for the delayed response.

I trust that you read the updates about this issue on the other thread. Our team released the fix in version 6.46.1, so updating your Register would have fixed this bug.

Thank you again for your patience and your understanding while we worked to resolve this. Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help.
