Square Photo Studio App Restricted Access for Team

Im trying to give my team access to Square Photo Studio so they can take pictures for me. The app tells them that I need to give them permission to access it, but there's no permission set available for the app on my Team dashboard or in the app itself.

Anyone know how to do this?

I could be wrong, but I think all they need to do is sign in under your username and password. After that they would have the ability to add a photo to an item or save it to a file. We don't use teams, but 3 people has access to photo studio on my account and that is how we do it.

Thanks, Randy. I'm nervous about giving that out - I'm the owner and administrator. If they have that, they can access any other app and get into the back end.  Now, I trust my current team, but you never know when a relationship might sour, you know?  So I prefer to not give it out.

When my guy tried to sign in with his credentials, the app told him I had to give him access. But I can't find any place in square to actually give him the permission he needs.

Hi there, @sethvermilyea 👋

I see these are your first couple posts in the Community, so I would like to welcome you!

I do agree with you that giving your credentials can give an uneasy feeling. Could you change the password for the Photo Studio app so that it is only specific to the Studio app?

I have reached out to the Photo Studio team to see if there are any other options here. Right now, team permissions for Photo Studio is a feature request. I can see where this is super misleading since it is asking you to give them permissions.

Very misleading!

I also run into frustration that I can't add photos to a variation. Only to items directly.

Also - the studio app asked me to sign in with my square credentials, that's what gives me access to my inventory so that I can add pictures.  So no, I don't expect I can change the password for the app specifically. Also, since Square doesn't seem to have clear permissions for the app, that doesn't seem to be an option.

@sethvermilyea Just a couple of questions. Do they put up the photo for you on Square? or do they just take a photo and upload it to folder in the cloud?

The reason I ask is if they just take a photo and remove the background or add a background and upload it to a folder they don't need to sign into Square to do that.

If they take the photo and put it up they will need access to Square.

I checked to see if you could do a device permission, that way you could control or even delete access to their device. But that is only for the POS app.

I did find a support page and about 1/4 of the way down it gives instructions on how to create a team Permission Set. Hopefully this is what is needed to get it working.

Thanks Randy, I definitely looked at the team permissions but appreciate your diligence in trying to help!

If they're using the app, they can assign the photo they take to items on square. We can get manual and save them to a folder, but then I still have to do all the work to assign to a product. The app is supposed to let them assign right away.

the currently have access as a team member. And this one actually has the most access. So it's odd that they can't access. But it looks like Summer confirmed it's not possible even though the app indicates it should be.

What would be an ideal solution would be to put Photo Studio in Device Management. That way you could grant them permission to the Photo Studio and POS. From there they could just add the product and not have access to your whole dashboard and information. If an employee ever quit, then you could log in and delete their access without changing passwords.
