When we enter new products into our system and apply the GTIN via barcode, Square is randomly updating the product name, which is often not correct. This is happening with product images too. We want to use our own product names and images. The product names are not consistent and causing issues for customers to find products. How do we stop this from happening.

If adding after hours from an Invoice, you may want to add the new items by csv with the barcode in the GTIN column and then it does not change.

My suggestion is to Scan the Barcode, and choose if it is a GTIN or SKU. Then after the Wrong information is added, delete the wrong data and type in the correct info. Typing in the correct Name and Description of the item Then scanning the barcode changes your typed in Data to incorrect data. I have found out on my Pos if I scan in the Barcode and then just Type over it then save it the Data I want in stays. Just remember enter the Barcode Data first, either by scanning it in or typing it in. You can also upload the data by csv upload through your Square Dashboard on a computer.

Ok thanks for the tip! Problem is we get so many new products that we usually add in the new stock after hours from invoices, which is why we add in the barcode after adding all the product details. Will need to work out a new way of working. Appreciate the feedback, it didn’t happen in the past only noticed this happy recently.
