I take cash payments from customers, so this is not about credit card payments. A few weeks, I figured out how to send someone a manual receipt that I built on the site & had emailed to her.
I'm now trying to do it again, and can't find it. I search "how to make a receipt," and all I get is how to make an invoice. *sigh* So, can't find that information nor can I even find the previous receipt I did manage to make.
I'm honestly about to quit Square even trying to make this site work for me. It is so not intuitive. And I'm usually pretty smart. It's been very frustrating! 😞
Why is this not easier? Where is this, please? I'm sure someone here can help. I'm hoping for specific steps to get to what I'm trying to find & do. Really appreciate any help.

What system are you using with Square? Android, Register, a tablet and which Printer connection do you have connected to your hardware?
I just ring up the sale, press Charge, then choose or type in the custom amount the customer gave me, then the cash drawer opens and a screen pops up what type of receipt do i want the customer to have... email txt or print.... i press print and a receipt pops out of my receipt printer. Make Sure App and OS is up to date on your Device.
Also make sure you have Always Show receipt Screen is enabled.
On a Computer follow this link:
https://squareup.com/dashboard/point-of-sale/devices
On the right side of the link there is an Edit Settings... click or double click that.
In the Collect Signatures and Receipt Settings make sure Always Show Receipt Screen has a Blue Dot to enable it.

Thanks, that might help at some point, but this isn't a point of sale sale... I am at my home PC hours after the customer has given me a check at their home for the service I've provided. I'm manually building the receipt with details of the service/transaction, which is then emailed to them from Square as confirmation. I've done it before, just can't remember how I did it! lol. 😉
Maybe Square isn't the best recording/sales mechanism for this particular business, since I expect mostly cash/check payments, but it really should be sufficient for what I need.
I thought I could do it by going through take a payment, but I can't view then edit the invoice the way I want to. Anyway, I'm just not sure this is going to work for my purposes. Bummer. 😕

See now I know your using the Virtual Terminal on a Computer.
After you put the sale in as take the payment etc you should be able to see it under Transactions on a computer.
Select the Transaction you want to email a Receipt for, and on the right side will be a pop up of your receipt. Press Send Email Receipt.
When requesting help in this forum its best to say which Device (Virtual Terminal in this case) your using and if you are just using POS, Square for Retail or Square for Restaurants. This way people with those devices or systems can assist the best. Since each one has different screens or different terminology.
