What transaction fee is used for subscription payments?
[Note: The title of this post has been edited by a moderator for clarity.]
The "Subscription with payment link" is a good idea. This way, if someone want to break down their $900 charge into 3 payments, we can allow them to pick a plan where they will automatically be charged $300/mo. The question I have is where the other 2 monthly payments will be charge at the higher "Card Not Present" rate, or will them be charged at the lower "Card Present" rate, if the customer has their card present when the subscription is initiated?

Thanks for your question and welcome to Seller Community, @marc007.
All charges for a subscription placed with a Square Online Checkout link will use the same rate used for online purchases. You can find what that is on the fees explanation page of our site. If you have other questions about our fees I'd also take a look at our fees and payments FAQ.

Hi Adam: Thanks for your reply. I don't understand the statement "Rate used for online purchases". We are a medical office, and people pay for their services. If we offer them a payment plan, and have the card present for the first installment, and they agree to pay the balance in installments, do we then get charged a "Card present" fee, or a "Card Not Present" fee. If it is the latter, then there is no advantage between doing a payment plan and just doing a manual entry at the time the installment is due. So basically wanted to know if installment payments would be at the "Card present" fee if they used their card when the service was given (at the time of the first installment).

Thanks for clarifying, @marc007. Online purchases use the "card not present" rate as do subsequent subscription payments. While this is the higher rate than you see for "card present" rates, it's also more convenient for some customers since they can just pay online.
