Owner transfer was just completed, however the store owner name did not change?

We just completed an owner transfer successfully, however when we login to our square online it still says the previous owners name? Our business profile is correct in settings and says the proper name but online does not. It says welcome back (previous owners name) and says the store owner is previous. Please assist. Does it take 24 hours to update?

Unfortunately issues such as this cannot be resolved here - you need to contact Customer Support.  They have the ability to review your Square Account setup - the volunteer Community Members here are not the same as Tech or Customer Support.  We can help with some challenges involving Square's Apps and Hardware but, account issues like yours need to be reviewed by Customer Support.  You can reach out to them through your Square Account.

The big issue is that the old owners EIN would be associated with the account.  The New owner should create a New Square account using the new owners information either SS# or EIN#.  Once this is created the old owner can still download their catalog and upload it to the New owners account.  Use new owners SIgnin to access hardware at the location.  You may also need to download employee data if needed or customer data if needed.  

I also suggest contacting Square support as I may have missed some details that need to be transfered or their might be a way that is easier for Support to do.

 

The big reason Square as far as I know and most Credit Card processing does not transfer from one owner to another is it is tied to the persons SS# or company's EIN number.  All Square fees and income you have done from Jan 2024 till sell date are your responsibility for Tax purposes, where as the New sales going forward are the responsibility of the New owner.  Square needs a way to show this difference in ownership and the only way is for the New owner to create their own account.  The hardware you currently sold with the business just needs the New login credentials to credit the new owner.  Hope this all makes sense.
