Custom Amount - Recoding to Proper Category
Today I went live with Square. I have the Square Stand and loaded my inventory with updated pricing. However, twice today, a customer had a product where the sticker showed the old price. Question 1 - is there a way to override the price when I enter the item? I couldn't find it quickly enough so I deleted it and entered a custom amount on the keyboard. For tracking purposes, I want to record those in the proper category/item listing. So Question 2 - is there a way to make that change? Thank you in advance.

@Nicoll ; As far as I know there is no way to easily change the price of an Item in Square Stand and the Ipad while ringing up a transaction that has a SKU assigned to the price. This I believe is a safety feature so employees can not just change the price for a friend. As for number 2, once the transaction is recorded by Square there is no way to change that in the system, but you can manually change the quantity by going into your Items section and updating the quantity.
Now for the Future you can create a Discount, leave the $ amount blank and then at the time of sale you could reduce the price by a $ amount that you enter at the time of sale to get the price to the correct lower price, but not sure how you can do this to a higher price if you needed to. By doing this it would track the inventory. Name this Discount Price Adjustment or Wrong Scanned Price so you know why there was the Discount. to apply this discount at the time of sale, you slide your finger on the item that needs the discount and you will be asked Apply Discount, or Remove Item (Meaning from the sale not your Item List), Select Apply Discount then choose the discount.

Thanks Keith! I'll create a blank discount code for that reason in case it should happen again. It makes sense as a safety feature, but then you'd think a manager could override it. You know, I just converted to Square from a basic Sharp cash register (that's 20 years old) and I am surprised that Square doesn't have the simple reports like the Z and hourly reports on a cash register. Nor does it allow to give check change. These are basic POS functions. Thanks again!

You are welcome, and on Squares dashboard you can get a lot more detail than with the Z of an old cash register. I actually preferred the back office of Square over the Z after learning more about it and how and how easy it makes my end of month tax report. I believe you can have it that this discount may need a managers pin if you like. I believe Square does offer that in their discounts section that a pin can be required for certain discounts. Kind of like the old managers key for an over ride but now its just a pin.
