Looking for feedback from sellers about your experience with Afterpay.

I have an ice cream and candy shop and have been thinking about marketing Afterpay. Just wondering if it has increased sales, and been worth the risks such as fees, chargebacks, disputes and cannibalization of existing loyal customers. I can't sell online given my product so this would for a brick-and-mortar food service operation.

Hi @Bob16, thanks for posting and welcome to the Community 👋.

Looping in a couple of our Square Champions @alexandriak and @HC_Charlie, hoping they can provide more insight into using Afterpay !

I would also suggest reviewing this thread.

@Bob16thanks for your post. I've found that the most beneficial usage of AfterPay is for larger priced purchases. I'm not sure if any of your customers would find it beneficial to extend payments for just food purchases (like ice cream and candy), and the added fees with using AfterPay may not benefit you.

You can always start offering it to your customers and gauge their response. If it works favorably for your situation you can continue to use it and promote it, or you can chose to stop offering AfterPay.

Hi! I'm not sure why you would want to offer afterpay honestly, I imagine most of your sales are under $20? And the extra fees afterpay would bring you would probably cut into your margins.

Afterpay is financing a purchase and the customer makes at least 4 payments, on that purchase amount. I offer it because I sell high end items so it makes sense for a customer to use it on a $500 bag.
