Beta: Manage your Kitchen Directly with Square KDS, Now Testing

We know your restaurant is looking for the best way to effectively manage your kitchen orders, which is why we have created Square’s first KDS. We’re looking for restaurants to help us test this new product and be part of creating this with your business top-of-mind.

With Square KDS, you’ll be able to view orders from Square for Restaurants, Square Point of Sale, Square Online Store, BentoBox, GoParrot, WooCommerce, Craverm, Chowly, PoppinPay, Ecwid and several others directly on Ipad.

🛑 Stop right there! Before you jump in, let's talk about a few restrictions and limitations. 

Here’s what you need to know:

• Square KDS is only supported on iPads using iOS 13 and above
• We do not currently support Open Tickets/Checks for this Beta
• The KDS app will work alongside your current printer setup
• Not currently available on Square Register (we'll reach out when it's ready)
• We're currently recruiting for US based businesses, but will be opening in other locales soon. Mark your Country if you're interested in testing outside of the US.

I suppose this is a beta that we've been using for the past year with the standard Square system, not restaurant.

I requested to join the beta. I'm getting ready to open a coffee shop and would really prefer a KDS to communicate drink orders to the barista. I recently worked in another cafe who uses Heartland and their KDS was so awesome. Hoping Square's is similar.

First, I’d like to sign up for the beta of your KDS.

Secondly, I see that I will eventually need to be upgraded to Plus.  However, this could be a deal breaker since I do not need ANY of the other Plus features currently.  So $60/month + $40/month is excessive for me.  Is there any chance that when you roll this out that the KDS could be added for a much more modest monthly fee per register using it?

My operation is a walk-up window, with Square for Restaurants on my main iPad.  Also, I have a handheld Terminal which would need to send orders to the KDS as well.  I’m currently an ice cream shop with food, and in 2021 will be transitioning completely to an ice cream shop/outdoor seasonal bar.  The other Plus features are just not needed in a shop my size.
