Android printer for KDS

We were told the KDS wouldn't run on iOS soon, so we wanted to get a jump on things and got an android tablet.  I'm already pretty annoyed that we have 3 iPads and they won't be supported, but now our printer isn't hooking up!!  So I spent all this time getting the android up and running and I have to go back to an iPad to use the Bluetooth printer.  VERY ANNOYING.

I can add the printer to bluetooth on the tablet, I can add the android app to monitor the printer, but I can't add the printer to the KDS.  Again, this all works on the iPad, and if we have to purchase yet another device to make this all work I'm going to be even more upset than I already am.  I've spent so much time just today resetting the printer, adding, deleting, etc to the bluetooth.  Since it all works perfectly on our iPad it's just very upsetting that we are forced to purchase an android and now the same devices don't work.

Thanks for listening to me rant and if you have any advice I'd appreciate it!

FYI: we use the printer to automatically print order tickets a set amount of time before the order is due.  We use an online preordering app that sends the tickets to us and the KDS is responsible for printing them at the right time.  Right now I've rigged it so the front POS (an iPad 🙄) is hooked up to the printer, but I don't know that the tickets will print out at the right time like it did when the KDS was hooked to it.  Thanks again

Hey there @kaijukitchenvt

Would you mind sharing the Printer Make and Model and the Table Make and Model? This will help me or any other Seller confirm whether this is a bug or working as expected.

Anything yet?  I'm now having issues with the display options on the KDS app.....  Not really happy to have to change from a system that worked perfectly for us on the iPad to have all new stuff that doesn't work on android!!!

Hi @kaijukitchenvt - Violet here, following up for @JJ_. It looks like you still need help with this, so I kept the ball rolling on your inquiry.

I am not familiar with the brand of tablet you mentioned, so I went to check our compatibility page first. I did not see the brand "Contixo" listed here, so I was not able to confirm that your "Contixo A3 Tablet" is compatible with your printer for Square.

I'm worried we will be told it's not the "right" android tablet, and now we will have to purchase the "right" tablet at a significant cost, or we will have to "upgrade" our printers to be compatible.... It all worked with the iPad app and we spent a lot of money jumping through hoops to get the equipment only to have to change over.

Our android tablet doesn't display the tickets the same as the iPad and when it's busy we can't see the customer's name and there has been quite a bit of confusion.  It doesn't light up the way the iPad did either, so when the sun comes through and hits it, the tickets aren't visible.  All I hear is complaining about this android change and I'm annoyed.

Hope you can get help for your situation, cktogo!  I'm not holding out much hope 🤷‍♀️

I just purchased a new printer that should've been compatible as well.  I already had the Star mcPrint3 which worked fine.  I purchased another Star Future Printer with Bluetooth and it (the Android Tablet) finds it and adds it but won't connect via kds.
