Cash drawer not opening via Square for Restaurant app
I installed Square for Restaurant last week. Our USB cash drawer is occasionally not opening now when I finish a transaction. It also won't open when I go to "actions" and press "open. However, it will work if I unplug the Square hub from power to reset it. Any thoughts? It feels like a software glitch? I'd prefer not to go through the nightmare that is Square tech support, if I can help it. Help, anyone?

I should add that the drawer had no issues with our regular Square App. We've been using it for years. It's just when I switched to Square for Restaurant that this started happening.

Hello @deslock1, that is strange! What brand and model cash drawer are you using? What app version is your Restaurant app on? If you are using the iPad or Square stand have you tried deleting and reinstalling the app again?

APG-VB554A. We've had this cash drawer for several years and it has always worked with standard Square. We started running Square for Restaurant last week. Yes, I have deleted and reinstalled the app. The only things i can think of is a software bug in the app or a bad USB cord. I'm leaning toward some sort of bug, because if I unplug the Square hub power supply and plug it back in, the drawer "open" button in actions will work again.

I spent two days last week on the phone with "Square support." The overseas support centers are a joke.

To see if it is an issue with Square for Restaurant, did you try using your other app that you used 2 or 3 Weeks ago meaining eith Square POS or Square for Retail since you just switched to Square for Restaurant last week? This might help to see if it is a bug with Square for Restaurant.
Mine on Square for Retail seemed a little slow at opening after an update before, and now has been working fine.
