Stuck on Powered by Square Screen

Every time I enter the device code on the square terminal to sync with virtual terminal, it gets stuck on the "powered by Square screen".   This forces me to complete a factory reset, which nullifies the sync (it does initially sync but doesn't help because the terminal is unusable).

Any suggestions or has anyone else experienced this?   I have an email for support with Square, but I thought I'd check here too, at the advice of Square.

Thank you

Hey @BKW.  I’m not sure there is a problem here, or I don’t understand your post.  The “powered by Square” message shows up on a connected terminal when it is ready to accept payments.  It will stay this way until a payment is sent to the connected terminal.  You can change that screen to show things like your business name, logo, or other image if you’d rather.  But this is the connected terminal’s “default state” while waiting for something to do.

Thank you! You totally solved this for me.    I figured it was frozen in that state; however, I just tried a fake transaction, and it sent it right to the terminal.  I probably did a factory reset a dozen times.

Thanks again!

Oh my gosh - I've been doing the same thing! How do you get it off that screen and to the home page? I am just setting it up and don't have a transaction to process. I'm trying to add hardware, set up my favorites, etc. and can't get it off the darn "powered by square" screen!

Hey there @HumorHeart, I am sorry you are having some troubles! Did THEREALCHIPA's reply above help?

Are you using The Connect Square Terminal to Point of Sale feature?

Did you ever figure out how to get it off the home screen? Ours just keeps showing the logo and buzzing every 30 seconds like it wants to forward the printer roll.

Hello there @drostlan

If you are having issues connecting your Square Terminal to the Virtual Terminal. I would recommend doing a factory reset. You can accomplish this by holding the power button on your Square Terminal until the countdown on the screen finishes.

This will leave you with a Square Terminal that will need to be setup, and then you can retry to connect to the Virtual Terminal.

I hope this information is helpful!

I've done a factory reset three times. All that happens is the square logo comes up with a little jingle and a black background and that's it. the screen won't respond to touch, and the button turns it off and on again. Nothing seems to get it to engage. Any idea how to make this thing work?

I'm not on wifi and it hasn't been used in several months. So do I need to drive somewhere to connect to wifi for this thing to get unlocked?

thanks

That has nothing to do with my question.
