My handheld terminal adds items without being touched

One of our handheld terminals seems to be exhibiting “phantom” touches. We have 2, and have only experienced the issue on 1 of them. 

Once the device is powered on and booted to the register, it will add items to the cart at random. 

I didn’t see in my searches where this had been experienced before, so posting here before I look to replace the device.

I would contact support by phone or email because they can get you to upload an activity log and maybe they can see what is happening.

My initial fear is somehow the digitizer in the screen is broken and that is what is allowing phantom clicks is that it is sensing electrical field inputs in the broken area similar to the electric field changes it "feels" when your finger touches the screen.
