Hi @saltpanda. Did that notice come from Square? I ask because they would be the ones to get the actual notice of a problem with your tax payment, since they are your payroll processor of record. Square would get that notice then someone would reach out to you. If that notice says that it is from the IRS, I wouldn’t believe it without further research. Check the email header to be sure it is from an irs.gov email address. Also, if your ACH withdrawal has truly been declined by your bank, it should show up in your online bank statement as a returned item. If your bank doesn’t show it as returned, then this is definitely a phishing/spam email.
I get scam emails and texts and phone calls like this all the time. So far not one of them has been valid.

OK. I just had to suggest that first. Since this involves sensitive financial information, you’ll need to call the Square Customer Success Team. They’ll get to the bottom of it for you. I can verify that my last two payrolls were fine, so whatever is going on is account-related, not systemic.
