Customer Display Not Ready

We bought a square terminal for our apparel after having a terminal last year that worked well. However after setting it up and testing at home, after bringing it to the event the customer display suddenly stops taking credit cards, after a restart to reset it I get an orange bar that says "customer display not ready". I tried more restarts which eventually it started working again for a short time then it stopped working again. 

 

I turned it on today after the event and the display is working fine, however it did an update right beforehand.

 

Forgot to include, our event is an outdoor event. Of course all devices are kept out of the elements... Does the customer display and/or square register have any known issues with cold?

Hi @HockeyBevs - I'm sorry to hear that this issue with your Square Register's customer display has brought you to the Seller Community. Glad to hear that everything seems to be working, as of yesterday. It sounds like this error could have been caused by an older version of the register's software.

 

I suggest completing the troubleshooting steps for the display listed here, just in case. Additionally, you may need to conduct a factory reset so your customer display can update its software.
