Square Register lag

Hi there!

 

My team has been experiencing a terrible lag when operating our square register (a few years old, purchased directly from square, up to date software-wise). This seems to be a pervasive issue noted on these community boards for the better part of a year now and I haven't found a post with a reasonable solution or explanation. The only workable solution I have read about is reverting back to the old user interface experience which is all fine and good, but what is the status of resolving these known issues? 

 

I have tried resetting our square register and have ensured that the software is up to date. This update (if memory serves) was released late in the fall of 2021 - these issues have been ongoing ever since. 

 

I was hoping to get an update from Square engineers as to when these bugs will be worked out in an update. For the time being I will plan to revert my system back to the old interface until this is resolved... but when will that be?!

Hi @birdhive We have had this issue with 1/4 registers. Call support and have them troubleshoot with you. If you have already done this it may be time to get a warranty replacement. The agent should be able to help you complete that as well!

The Square Register will develop lag issues over a time period.  I found that they need a hard reset at least once a year.  However the animations of every items pressed on the "improved" new experience makes for a laggy register.
