Unable to tap or inset card payment on square POS

@MembersI have a 2nd generation square stand. A few days ago when we would ring up a sale, the lights showing ability to tap or insert card did not come in. We have had to manually enter our card payments since then. Has anyone else had this trouble and what was the solution? We have restarted the system, unplugged the stand, force stopped the app, updated tablet, square and everything else as well as call  for  tech help. 
we are not getting any assistance anywhere and none of the suggested fixes are working.

Sounds like you have done quite a bit of troubleshooting on your end.  Sorry, can't speak for someone from Square not getting back to you.  Just some thoughts from experience - if you are fortunate enough to still have some warranty time on your stand, you could submit a warranty claim.  As for additional troubleshooting, should you have a Square Contactless and Chip Reader available, you could connect it to your iPad via Bluetooth - you would first remove the iPad from the stand and if that works then the issue would be the Stand.  Most people don't have extra Square hardware around but, that's one way to narrow the issue down.  Other thoughts, Apple just released IOS 17.4 - so ensuring your tablet's OS is up to date is a good thing.  As the Community is not the same as Tech or Customer Support, we can only offer suggestions from personal experiences.

I have had this happen a couple of times. Both times I have got a cloth or Q-tip and cleaned the back side of the lightning connector on the stand and that has fixed it. I hope this fixes it for you.
