Sometimes I'd like to have the same item listed under two names, so that it appears as two different buttons on the iPad POS screen. This helps the retail staff who might naturally refer to the item by different names. No matter which button you select, it would resolve to the same physical item and update inventory accordingly. Is that doable?

I know you can duplicate an item and even have the same barcode, but I don’t think it will adjust inventories on both of them. Have you thought about just renaming the item to both names for instance Bread/Rolls. That way both names would be listed and inventory would be correct.

Thanks, that works pretty well and is easy to implement.

Also if you're looking to have multiple "names" for when they search for a product you can include the alternate names in the descriptions of the product. I'll typically put Balloons and Mylars and Latex to differentiate between the different types of balloons we sell for example.
It can be super useful if you have seasonal products that sell during the year since you can "tag" the products in the description so when you search for it the item will pop up.
Please Require Customers to pick time/date at checkout for Square online. Thanks!
A-ha. So search will search descriptions as well as names. Good to know. As you say, that would allow me to “tag” items with any number of keywords, alternate names, or descriptions. Neat trick!
