Can you limit delivery requests to a certain location/area or radius?

First I just want to applaud the team at Square (and/or Weebly) for integrating Delivery...it was a much needed feature.  As I see in the Delivery settings page, "more robust features are coming", I'd like to implore the development team to roll out restricted delivery zones.

 

We're getting too many delivery requests for addresses that are 30+mi away from our location.  We also sell alcohol (craft beer) and thus are restricted to the limits of our ABC License.  IE. we cannot cross State lines.  Currently customers can push through a delivery no matter where they are.

 

This needs to be at the top of the development list.  Please!

 

And thanks again for the rapid response to the current state of things.  Hope all business are doing the best they can right now.

Good news! 🌟 Looks like we developed a way to limit the radius/location to which you will delivery to:

 

 

 

This can be done within the Pickup & Delivery > Location settings.  Let me know if you have any questions about this.

Hello,

 

I was wondering if it is possible to create a delivery radius for setting up a local delivery option for our customers either directly through square or with an app (this would be fulfilled by us, not a third party delivery service). Right now it looks like the only option is to just ask customers not to order delivery if they don't live nearby but this will inevitably lead to us having to cancel the orders of people who didn't read the instructions which is a terrible customers service move and makes us look bad. Any help would be appreciated!

I moved your post over to this thread because @ethenwithane had a very similar question.

 

As of right now, we do not have a way of limiting the area in which a seller will or will not deliver to. It's a feature we're working on making available in the future, though. This is great feedback, and I'll make sure to post in this thread when I have an update on that status of this feature request. 

 

In the meantime, I would continue to have a disclaimer that explains what areas you will or will not delivery to. Thanks again.

Rather than a delivery radius, we'd like to specify a part of town to which we'd offer delivery. We're located in a pedestrian area, and want to limit the delivery area to an area we can reach quickly by bike.

 

A simple text field would be fine.

Is there an update to this? There is no delivery area under Pick-up and Delivery.

Currently there are no addresses available to deliver to when placing an order.

Hello @wenfan and welcome to the Seller Community.

 

If you are using the On Demand Delivery Settings the delivery radius will be determined by the third party. If you wish to limit it. I would recommend you reach out to your designated Courier or Delivery Partner and discuss your options. However, if you are using In-House Delivery (you or your staff are completing your deliveries) you can absolutely adjust your Radius. You can learn more about it here

Thanks, JJ, I'm using in-house delivery. The issue is that the option to select a delivery radius simply does not show up on my screen. It seems to be a glitch in the software that the Square fix-it team has expedited, but it's been over 24 hours with no fix. Hoping they can figure it out soon.

I was able to look into this for you and It seems that the Radius option is now appearing on your account @wenfan

is there a way to modify the online store to only accept orders that would ship locally within a certain radius?   i would like to start a food delivery but don't want to receive an order from across the country that will not be fullfilled

Hi @Oldmillgourmet,

 

For the shipping options on your online store with Weebly/Square Online Store, you can select states to set individual shipping rates. However, what you more are likely looking for is the Pickup & Delivery section. Within the delivery settings, you can set a radius for the delivery area you wish to cover. Here is more on how to set up local delivery.

I have a question to all the members who has done manually input of shipping rates on all items. As I was trying to put shipping rates, I was struck at the shipping zones. Which zone shipping rates did you enter? I didn`t want to overcharge the buyers but no loss from my side either. Zone 1 & 2 seems to be for the locals and 3,4,5,6 are for other States. Please help. Appreciated your time and answers.

This answer wasn't related to my concern. My issue was the Shipping rates. Not sure, what Shipping rates that I should apply on the website. When I checked on the USPS and UPS shipping services, they have a different shipping rates for each zones (1,2,3,4,5,6,7). Locals and other States. Which zone do you apply?

Hey @Dek

 

Not sure I fully understand what you're asking here. You can input the shipping locations into your Square Online Dashboard by selecting Add Region in Settings > Shipping. As far as the shipping service options, that's entirely up to you. Please let me know if there's anything else we can answer for you, or you can always give us a call.
