Add Item Categories to Item Grid on Square POS (iPad with Stand)

We have had several item categories (like Mixed Drinks) on the item grid for use with our Square POS (using iPads with Square Stands) for a while now. Thus, we've been able to add categories as buttons on the item grid before. However, now it appears we cannot. Is that due to the recent change to the "new POS layout" (which we hate, btw)? We have way too many mixed drinks, shots, shooters, etc. to put them all on the item grid (particularly given the limit of how many pages you can have), so we need to be able to use categories as buttons on the item grid (and we need to update the item grid now to rearrange some things). Is this a bug, a new "feature", or am I just doing it wrong?

Hi @davefackler.  I just fired up my Square POS app (I use Restaurants now but have it around for backup and testing purposes).  I can still add categories to the grid, and when I press one it brings up the list of items in that category as always.  Also, I don’t see any new POS layout that’s happened recently.  

Anyway, I have version 6.21 which is the latest version.  And when I hit the “+” button in edit mode to add a function to a tile, categories are between between the Square functions and the item list.  You’re not seeing that?

Since @TheRealChipA  uses Square POS as a backup, and I use Square for Retail on an Ipad Stand.  I was able to add Categories to my Screen if I wanted to.  From the Checkout tab you can long press any of the tabs and a screen will pop up  asking if you want to edit, Remove tile, or rearrange.  If you choose Edit you can either add an Item or A category.  I chose my 28oz Category and all 165 items were shown in it.  You can also edit it from Settings on the Ipads.....More-Settings- Favorites Tab---- then choose edit Grid.   Then you can add categories there too.

I am on the Updated version on Square for Retail that just rolled out as of 7-5-2023.
