Re: Round-up option for non-profit donation

Re: Round-up option for non-profit donation

Square, please add this right away.  I have been asking you all for this for literally years (as a nonprofit ourselves, we would like to give patrons an option to round up to donate to us), but businesses also need the option to help local charities.  When change is in short supply as it is now, this is even more important than ever.  It's undoubtedly a simple option to add, and most of your competitors have it.

Thank you!

Here too! And please let us change the word "Tip" to "Donation". Many customers ask if tip is actually a donation as it is not clear by just using the word "Tip". I would venture to say that we are losing out on donations as others are not asking, just ignoring.

We would also like to add our voice pleading for a roundup option for non-profits. Any update for 2024?

Is anyone at Square going to ever respond to why they arent adding this feature? or listening to their customers? We pay you a ton of money in processing fees, you would think that with over 100 comments about a donation round up feature it would be in development or at least find an app for the square marketplace that will allow for this to happen

I’m wondering if we all take to social media and beyond this little forum, Square will perhaps make this request happen…

This feature is quite important enough for us that we are looking to change systems to accommodate.  When we do the math, we are losing more than the cost to change.  This feature is definitely necessary.

Hi is this a feature we can add? As we are a non profit animal rescue and I have other businesses ready to add that feature for us as soon as it’s available.

I am seeking an update on the round up feature and its future availability date.

My nonprofit shop would greatly appreciate this feature to allow people to donate towards our mission upon payment. I'm honestly surprised at how many other nonprofits have been requesting this feature and how long it's been going on!

Adding to the long list wanting this feature!

This is pretty aggravating.

As a non-tipping restaurant (since 2017) - we've been waiting for this feature for a "long" time -

We currently have a donation can available for cash donations to our monthly charitable agency selection, but since only 10% of transactions are now cash based, we miss a lot of opportunities for customers to support our mission based efforts during charge sales.  We do have a "item" available for offering - but it's usually one of those "afterthought" requests by a customer.

.

Either the ability to change the current "tip" function to a "donate" function or a feature that includes an option to choose a "round up" amount at the end of the sale could be useful.  Perhaps it could it work similar to the "redeem your loyalty" request that comes up right at the end of a sale?   And, yes, we, as a business could be more "bold" about signage/staff scripts at the counter to offer a "round up" option during a sale.

While the "no-tip" movement is still quite small - I expect it to grow as more restaurants turn away from a compensation system that was founded on slavery, carries inherent bias, and removes the employer from fully paying staff a professional wage.

My apologies for sharing my personal soap-box here, but just wanted to give some background for why Square would want to support businesses that don't use the "tip" system for their business model.
