Hi there, @Cheetahchix 👋 Welcome here to the Seller Community! We are happy to have you join use! We hope this space can prove to be a valuable resource as you grow your business with Square and Square Online Store.

The Square Online Store grants users the ability to display notice messages on specific items if those items are on sale, low stock, or out of stock - accessible from the Item Settings > Item Preferences tab on the Online Store Dashboard. The control panel will look like this:

The on sale banner will only display from your Online Store if you have set a specific item with a sale price and marked it as On Sale within the Item Settings. More on this here

Let me know if this gets you where you need to be! I want to make sure this gets solved for you. Don't hesitate to reach out of reply!

I have been setting up my online store over the last few months. I also sell in-person so I liked having different prices for online ("Price" vs "Sale Price"). Starting a few weeks ago, suddenly all of my listing had this horrible red "On Sale" banner across all of my 700+ items on my store. From the photo, you can see all of my items (except for the top right) now have the banner. For the top right, I changed the "Price" and it consequently changed the price in Square to match. Before, the banner would only show on items that had a lower "Sale Price" than "Price". How can I change this back without changing all my prices and having the wrong prices for in-person sales? Thank youOn Sale BannerOn Sale Banner

So sorry for the confusion in regards to listing sale items on your Online Store. We are here to help!

I have spent over an hour trying to find the right place to change this info.  Square seems to have multiple dashboards, all with similarly named settings, yet nothing I'm clicking on appears to show this "Item Settings."  Nor do I see anything called "General Settings."  Under Items, I see a boatload of options:  Library, Categories, Gift Cards, and so on...nothing that matches.

To provide a "Best Answer," you really need to assume that people may not know which Dashboard they're on or how to get to the right place.  Am I supposed to be on my Weebly site for this?  Am I doing this on the Inventory?  This answer just assumes the reader already knows where he/she is...and I don't.  So knowing how to get to the right place would be fantastic.  After that, I am sure the rest of the info will be usable.  Thank you in advance for editing or modifying or further explaining this process.  My items are not on sale and having this show up has been frustrating to explain to customers.

Anything that has to do with your online store is done via Weebly so you log into Square and click on the "Online" button.  There are some items that synch with Weebly and Square such as the item price but not everything synchs up because they used to be two different products from what I have read.

Items on your online store show up as "On Sale" because you added a "Sale Price" on the online store for the items you are selling. After clicking on "Online" go to Settings and then Click on General. Scroll down and you will see "Item Settings". Uncheck the "Sale Indicator". That should remove the "On sale" but it won't remove the regular price crossed out as I just tested it with one of my items.

Hope this helps.

I have done this to place an item “on sale”. When trying to remove that sale price back to a non-sale price. The price shows correct, but the on sale button still shows on the item online. I deleted the sale price from the item options, but still can’t seem to have it stop saying “on sale” at the regular pricing. Any help will be appreciated. Seems like a glitch to me.

I am having the same issue. I want to keep the "On Sale" Tag there in the long term. However, we put a few items on sale for memorial day weekend. Afterwards, we took them off sale. After removing the sale price from the item description the red tag still shows. The correct price is there, but the red "on sale" is still appearing. I've tried switching the setting off and then on again. And it does turn off and then right back on again. I can't imagine re-uploading the items is the solution here. Extremely frustrating.

Hey @Arch Thanks for reaching out, and welcome to the Community 🙂

Can you please let us know the site url, and example item that is still showing the badge even after updating the sale price?

I don't believe a site publish is necessary after toggling on/off the sale badge, but it wouldn't hurt to try. Can you also please republish the site? Thanks!

Hi Joe, I'm not able to reach this screen by the information provided. It seems to be outdated. Could you please help me out, as I'm having the same problem and unable to make any changes. Thank you.

This is what I have learned:

In the Item details where you set the price then if you have a value set for Price and Sale Price then the item will show up "On Sale" provided that you have the Sale Indicator in the General  section set to display.  If you only set a Price but no Sale Price then the On Sale indicator will not show even if you have the Sale Indicator on in the General section.

We have removed the sale price from the "Sale Price" field in Weebly but the red On Sale tag still shows up on the image of the product (when viewing on the featured products page).  It looks just like WestValleyForge shows in their post, with the On Sale tag on the image, but no sale price listed anymore under the picture.

I also lack an Items Setting menu item as described by user sfeq so that avenue is closed to me as well.

I can usually figure this stuff out but am stumped.

Any help is appreciated - Thank you!

I found the Item Settings - Looks like it moved to be under the Items > Item Preferences menu item.  So I can turn off the red On Sale tags but I don't want to do that since there might still be other items still on sale.  I only want to remove the red "On Sale" tag from items that are no longer on sale - the ones on which I've removed the sale price.

Hi Jeff, just in looking at it again, just as you click "online" for your store from the dashboard, if you look on the right hand side bar, you should see a drop down menu for "Items." Then there are item preferences at the bottom of the drop down list. There you will find the "Sale Indicator." Click it off and then that should solve that. The sale price is important because it will be the price on your website and not reflected on square (if your prices are different because they include shipping for instance). Hope that helps!

Thanks - I tried that once and it didn't work, but what the heck - I figured I should try again.  And it worked.

Thank you!!

But, turning off the "Sale Indicator" turns it off for ALL items, even those still on sale. Ex: Item "A" was on sale last week, this week Item "B" is on sale. I removed the sale price from item "A" and set a sale price for item "B". However, my site still shows both items with the sale banner, Item "A" at regular price and Item "B" with sale price. Turning off the "Sale Indicator" in Item Preferences removes the banner from both items. When the sale price is removed from an item that should also remove the banner from that item.

Hi @ZilphaJewelry,

Thanks for writing in 👋

Can you share a link to your site, and some examples of items that are no longer on sale, but still show the sale indicator?

It would also be great if you could try re-publishing your site with the sale indicator turned off, and turn it back on after it's been re-published.

Please let us know how you go!
