Problems with recent update to Square Online

Spent way too long on the chat today for them to tell me--> "This is how it is now too bad. These are not bugs these are how its supposed to be..." 😞

 

The changes have caused a number of new steps to have to be added to my workflow, which is already very time consuming.

 

I run a gift shop and gallery. I use Square RETAIL Register/POS for in-store sales and ONLINE for my webshop.

 

With a recent update Square no longer allows you to automatically "Add New Items to the Site" (from the POS side) without having the items automatically be marked as VISIBLE online and available for purchase.

They told me this is no longer an option at all and it is not a bug.

They seem to be pushing you towards using the *NEW* Add From Item Library Button at the top of the Items List on the ONLINE side.

Ok fine, but this ALSO does not allow you import items and have them default ot being marked as UNAVAILABLE. So this means that I have to manually search for the NEW items after added to my online shop, then add them - then MARK THEM ALL AS UNAVAILABLE.

 

Because there is no way to have an item added from the Item Library into the Online Library now and have it default to UNAVAILABLE or HIDDEN.

 

Once an item is imported it will automatically be visible. This is an item that was directly imported from Square Retail, which does not have a photo - shipping rate - description or categories set. We have to do that manually ONE by ONE in Square online as we always have... why would anyone want that to be marked visible until after it is populated and corrected?

If anything default all new items shoul be set to be UNAVAILABLE and then let the user check it and make VISIBLE to our customers. This is much more professional overall. Who wants unfinished items live on their website?

Very frustrating and useless. I am very unhappy with Square overall now and I used to be a fan. I keep hoping it will get better, but it keeps just getting worse. I feel like crying!

 

I found another bug (that they say is not a bug) as well, but its way less of an issue than this one. Still frustrating! At a loss here!

This really sounds frustrating @bearandbird. This was never the experience we (Square) wanted you to have. I will make sure to share your feedback with our product team for their visibility and consideration when working on future updates.
