URL issue for items

The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: "I am stumped on this url issue"

I am stuck on this url issue. On my site I have a catalog drop down menu. When choosing from that catalog, the url does not 'match' the page. For example the url will be abcpage.com/store/c4/*permalink i created here*. How do I get rid of the 'store/c4'? The c4 part different on each catalog page also if I choose a different page. I cannot figure out how to change it! HELP PLEASE!!

@bfccgameon Welcome to the community,  My URL's are basically the same see below.

https://www.korieskloset.com/shop/girls-pant-set/KFI2RMNZ5E347U76XUZ5VDV6

|.                       1                     |    2  |             3         |                            4                      |

I hope I'm explaining this correctly.

1. That is your domain name.

2. Square includes "shop or store" in the URL because it's a part of the standard structure for their e-commerce platform. It helps organize and identify the online store's content in a user-friendly way.

3. That's the name of the category you have your item listed under. It may not be specifically meaningful to customers, but it helps Square's platform direct users to the right section of the website.

4. That's the unique identifier for the item.

There is no way to get rid of the shop or the c4 in the URL. The "c4" can indicate the fourth category or a specific path that is automatically generated by Square's platform to manage the website's content structure.

Do you have your items listed under a named category? for instance the item in my URL is in the category Girls Pant Set. If you don't have them named, the the c4 may be automatically added for structure. Like you said in your post the c4 is changing on each page.

I hope this helps.

Thanks. I have categories. Its what is in the url before the category that is confusing me (c4 for example). The category is wpba. My old websites would be more like bfccgame.com/store/wpba/redshirt. For this same product on this site is is bfccgameon.com/store/c4/wpba/redshirt. but that "c4" changes for every product no matter what the category is.

This is just a thought, but do you have the item in the URL listed in 2 categories? For instance  the item could be listed under a  main category and a sub category. If so this would explain why it is showing 2 categories in the URL. The c4 and wpba.

One other thought, has your website/POS recently went through the category migration? (Square is merging the online and POS categories) if so that could be why it is showing up like that. You can go to the category section and check and merge them together.
