Online Store: Can't see shopping cart?

We are a restaurant and are using Weebly for our online restaurant checkout. People navigate the site okay but often I hear that there is confusion about how to check out. I've experienced this myself. If you are shopping online, after you add a product to your shopping cart, if you continue shopping and don't select another item, there doesn't seem to be a way to get back to the shopping cart - there is no shopping cart icon.

 

Should there be?

When you go to Online Store dashboard > Settings > Checkout:

 

 

And select Advance Settings, what do you see? I'm wondering if your settings are on Buy Now:

 

This would mean there is no cart. Let me know if that's the case. You would want it to be on Add to Cart mode.

HI!

Just want to let you know that I got the cart icon to work. My husband recommended that in the website edit mode I look at the header icons. Sure enough, shopping cart was turned off. I turned it on and the shopping cart is now there.

Hey @ZDeli!

 

Thanks for your reply, and for the screenshots.

 

It looks like you're using the Order Online template, which seems to be overriding the Add to Cart setting. This is the expected behavior however if you would like to continue to use this template. Really sorry that you lose the cart functionality within this template.

Well, i switched to this template since this was the recommendation for restaurants. I think not being able to see a shopping cart is a problem, but I like how the Order Online template is set up for menus. Do you think the shopping cart icon/feature can be easily added to this template?

We’ve been trying to solve this as recently as 2 months ago and no Square team rep could ever help. We have had so many multiple order mistakes because of it. So thanks for the easy fix solution!

Mobile version and browser ,  I've had my site published for over a month and have been sending out the link to all friends.  To date no orders.  After investigating found the shopping cart  disappears unless you are selecting items to buy, Also no way to see what you have in the cart .   Personally if i was a customer trying to shop on this website i would be frustrated and go elsewhere

This needs to be fixed or the website is totally useless.

"You need a button to view shopping cart so the customer can check out."

Also , when viewing an item the customer doesn't know how to go back to previous screen.

 

6/13/20 update to this post

Shopping cart problem resolved

goto Website, Edit, Header, select Cart icon

During the initial setup this is recommended to be left turned off until you you are ready to sell, i followed recommendations, 6 months later after completing my setup no one reminded to turn it on.   This should be added to the Setup Guide Steps as the the last step  ......Turn On Cart Icon , now you are ready to sell.
