How do I create a dropdown list?

So when I post an item and I want the options lists I have as a dropdown… how do I get it that way? 
I watched a video on YouTube and I was looking into it and I followed everything i seen BUT my created options were not coming out like hers. 

I want to add apparel SIZES & COLORS

There are several options for what you are talking about:

first is variations second is modifiers

Variations i use for items that are the same but scan differently with a upc, different size bags of foods or bowls of different colours

Modifiers I use for Text to engrave on ID tags which is an input box and a drop down of modifiers for the font to use.
