Categories NOT showing up on Square Online

I'm only 2 months into square, so forgive me if I am saying the wrong thing.

 

I add all my items using the "Online" button thru the square dashboard.  I like the interface better.  I have tons of items and categories (as you can see if you visit my site - http://www.thecraftyridge.com.  HOWEVER, when I go into the square dashboard and click the "Items" button, only two of those categories show up.  This is a problem because I am trying to set up discounts and I currently can not do that if all my categories are not showing up.

 

I tried to look up this answer, but none of them are exactly like mine, unless I just don't understand the lingo yet.  Thank you for any help & assistance!

HI, love your items.  You have done awesome!  From your post, I understand you add items individually on the Square Dashboard, not the Online Dashboard correct?  From what I understand, categories do not sync well.  Did you add Categories on the Square Dashboard and some on the Online Dashboard?  This may be the issue.

Thank you for the compliment! I'm still slowly adding all my inventory/ideas online.

 

The thing that confuses me is no, I did not do some on dashboard and some online.  Everything was done online. I focused on setting up my website first, and just used the item option online since it was right there.  I hardly use dashboard except for orders & invoices. I just personally find that easier to navigate.

So, it specifically says categories do not sync.  😖  That is incredibly frustrating.  Why would items, stock, photos sync... but not categories?  

 

I hope this feature gets added soon, SQUARE!!

I am having a similar problem. I just spent 4+ hours updating categories on Dashboard only to find out those categories will not carry over to Online / my website. HUGE waste of time. The only reason I did it was because of the announcement header from Square when I went to edit items Online making me think item management was moving to the Dashboard.

Also not great with lingo...so mad about the wasted time...I had emailed Square, but the help was not helpful and insinuated that I needed to manually change categories for each item (160 of them).

Why have the option to manage Categories in two places at all??

C'mon Square!!
