What am I doing wrong? Custom Featured items

I have been trying to add a section of Custom featured items to one of my pages, however it doesn't seem to be adding them. They are in my item library, visible and active in my shop, yet they don't seem to want to load in featured section. I know the section is working because if I select "most popular" that loads.

Very confused. any suggestions?

Hmm.. do you see an error message at all? You should be able to click into the section, and then select the items you wish to display there. 

Can you please post a link to your online site so we can take a look?

Checking in - were you able to solve your issue?

When you click on Featured Items and Custom Selection from the drop down and click Add Featured Items, you're then able to click the check box next to the items you want to feature, right? Then you hit done and publish?
