Why do the Square Marketing coupons no longer work right?

Since the coupons switched to square marketing they are very limited in how they are able to be used. I can not apply a discount to a specific item for the entire sale amount. I can only give a discount for one item in the sale. This is a huge issue as we offer specific discounts to specific customers for specific items. These discounts cannot be applied to the entire website and this seems to be the only way to offer a discount on the entire sale. So for example I used to have a discount for $5 of a $15 bag of dog treats. Now if the customer buys 10 bags with the discount the total price should be $100. Instead the total price at check out is $145. The discount is only applied to one item in the order. This is a big issue for my company and going to cause me to lose a lot of sales. I submitted a help request and was told this is not an option currently. So to me it sounds like Squares "update" to the coupons meant drastically limiting how they can be used. This was a regression not an update.

Have you had a chance to submit this as a feature request on the Ideate boards? I suggest doing this because the engineers and product teams do check the boards to see what requests are being made, and how many Sellers are requesting the feature. It is the best place to submit feedback when you feel a certain feature is lacking.

Have you had a chance to submit this as a feature request on the Ideate boards? I suggest doing this because the engineers and product teams do check the boards to see what requests are being made, and how many Sellers are requesting the feature. It is the best place to submit feedback when you feel a certain feature is lacking.

This has destroyed Square onlines functionality to the point where I need to move immediately to shopify.  Not being able to apply discounts in the same manner as what was available to use just last month is maddening.

Even just copy and paste your comments above to that thread. That seems to be the only chance we have to get square to fix this issue with the coupon codes that is causing so many people problems with their business.

I am also having issues with my 10% off categories sale only applying the discount to 1 product in their cart. If this isn't fixed soon, I'll be moving to another platform because I am losing sales.

yes I have submitted this and spoke to Square for over 90 minutes. Both people I spoke with understood and saw the issue in my online store, but said that's how they work now and there's nothing they can do. All I can do is submit the problem here. I am so frustrated and like others may consider a different platform if this isn't resolved quickly because it's going to impact my business and my marketing capabilities.

I just created a coupon to try and see how this new (worse) online coupon code works.

I need to create monthly coupons for our Featured Artist of the Month. Every month, all works by a certain artist at our art gallery shop, are 15% off. You can still apply a coupon to an Item. But before, when you added an item, I could put the artist name in the search window and ALL of their works would show up in a drop down and I could select ALL of their items. 
NOW I have to put the artist name in the search window, and all their items show up, but I can only select ONE OF THEIR ITEMS!
Are you serious?? So I had to type the artist name, select the item, click in the box, type the artist name, select the next item, type the artist name, select the item....Some artists have up to a hundred or more different items in our shop. I am NOT happy about this change.  Seriously going to have to do something different.  What are people's thoughts on Shopify?

Wow, this is a TERRIBLE change. I sell yarn, some of which comes in 50+ colors. Now to create a coupon for a yarn I have to chose every single color from the dropdown individually to add it to the coupon?! That is COMPLETELY UNWORKABLE!  The discounts are always on any of the colors, and I do not have time to do such a tedious task every month when our newsletter deal changes. PLEASE FIX THIS IMMEDIATELY!

With all of these garbage upgrades, losing PayPal, coupons not working, updates not working, item visibility issues, a once functioning website is now horrible. No care from Square about any of it.  A company this large that so many small businesses rely on just rolls out updates without vetting the code that crash your site, change settings and just don't work really doesn't give a **bleep** about any of its customers.  I'll be leaving as soon as I can.

This is severely negatively impacting my business and I will be leaving as soon as possible. It is shocking that they would roll out a new update and completely change the functionality of coupon codes, some of which customers have been using for YEARS. 

PLEASE FIX THIS IMMEDIATELY.

Yes. I will be leaving. Unfortunately it is going to force me to back down on production for a few weeks so I can try to migrate the website myself. I just don't have the time or the patience to do it, but also don't want to pay someone $1500 to do it either. It would have all been fine until Square decided to screw everyone over.

It really is a shame. I did a lot of shopping around last year, and as inadequate as Square is in meeting our actual business needs (and in giving a hoot how we feel about it), I don't think there is anything better out there. If you find it, let me know!

Hello any fix here?? This coupon functionality seems insane. You can't discount more than a one of any particular item? That seems needlessly limiting WHY?
