Hi everyone,
I’m new to the community and excited to learn from all of you! I run a small business that sells handmade gifts, and many of my products are seasonal. Managing inventory during peak seasons like the holidays has always been a challenge for me—sometimes I overstock, and other times I run out too soon.
What tools or strategies do you recommend for better inventory management, especially for seasonal items? Are there any features within Square that could help with forecasting or tracking trends?
Thanks in advance for your advice!
Looking forward to hearing your insights!

Hello @Somatobrod Welcome to the Square Seller Community...we're so glad you're here! I also make handmade seasonal items, and I understand your challenges. I'm currently waist deep LOL in orders right now, and it's a struggle to deal with the ebbs and flows of a seasonal business.
Square Reports can help you see trends in your past selling, like which items/months are busiest for you, and going forward with Square you can begin to run and check those reports and try to be prepared. The best advise I can give you (although it's a challenge to follow my own advise sometimes)....is to work ahead during the down time to prepare for your ordering season. In my case I sell Christmas ornaments and January to Easter is my slowest time. I try to build up inventory to have on hand so I can more quickly fulfill orders during the busy times in Autumn and Christmas.
For planning purposes, check out using Square Marketing. It will let you send out email campaigns to your customer list, and in doing so next year you can encourage your customers to start their orders early.
If you're concerned about having overstocks, try to only focus on your biggest sellers and most popular items. And if you do find you have overstocks, if they are not perishable, can you save for next season? Or run a special After Holiday sale? Good luck to you and I hope you have a prosperous selling season. Keep us all posted on how your season goes this year, and keep posting and contributing to the Seller Community. The more you post and engage, the more benefit you'll get from it. This is a great place for Square information and also general business advice and suggestions.
