Can we customize or add restrictions to our booking system?

For example, if a spa only wants to offer body contouring services on Mondays or if I only want to have one slot available each day for lash lift and tint. It's there a way to do this and still keep it automated or would I need to pre-approve everything?

Currently, Square’s appointment system might not have advanced options like restricting specific services to certain days or limiting availability per service without manual intervention, but here’s a potential workaround:

Option 1: Use Square’s "Available Time" Setting (Partial Automation)

If you're using Square Appointments, you can set specific availability for each service using the "Available Time" feature, but this doesn’t allow for limiting a service to a specific day of the week.

  1. Create Separate Service Types for body contouring or lash lifts.
  2. Go to Settings > Services and click the service you want to modify.
  3. Under Available Time, you can specify only certain hours/days for that service.
    • Example: If body contouring is only available on Mondays, set the service to be available only on Monday during specific hours.
    • For one slot per day, you can set the "Booking Window" to allow only one person to book that service per day, but it will apply to all days (you would need to adjust availability per service manually if specific days are required).

Option 2: Manual Blocking (Limited Automation)

For more control, you can manually adjust the availability for each service each week. While this adds some manual work, it would allow you to block out times for specific services, such as:

  1. Block off time for body contouring services by adjusting your availability for that specific service each Monday.
  2. For lash lift and tint, manually adjust the calendar to allow only one slot per day.

Option 3: Pre-Approve Appointments (Less Automation)

You could use Square’s pre-approval feature for certain services to approve each appointment before it's finalized. This way, you could confirm that the service is only offered on certain days and at specific times, though this means a manual review process for every booking.

  1. Enable pre-approval under Settings > Appointment Settings to ensure you approve each service request.
  2. While this process is not fully automated, it would give you control over which days clients can book the service.

Note: As of now, Square doesn’t support highly specific automated features like restricting services to certain days with an exact slot limit per day. It seems that either a more manual approach or adjustments to your availability settings could help manage this situation.

For a fully automated solution with advanced scheduling features, you might want to consider third-party booking integrations like Acuity Scheduling or Calendly that offer more control and advanced booking features, which can be synced with Square. 🙂
