I offer digital downloads and marketing courses for small service-based businesses. They are hosted on Etsy, currently.
I'd like to host these on my website but I am wondering how I would advertise them. Etsy has a marketplace full of buyers. Marketing is so different when advertising locally versus on that larger scale.
Etsy takes about 12% in fees. I am wondering if I run ads, will I be spending the same amount?
Thanks in advance for your insight!

Hey there, @Bronze_Palms -
Could you give me some more information on how you host these downloads or marketing courses through Etsy? Are you looking to just have a link to Etsy or have them purchase these through your Online Store?
I will keep an eye out for your reply👀.

Thanks Kassi! I would like to host them on Square and have Square take the 4% processing fees instead of hosting them for 13% on Etsy.

Hey there, @Bronze_Palms I noticed you're considering shifting your digital products from Etsy to your own site. To help with easy and effective sales of your digital downloads and courses, you might be interested in checking out SendOwl, which has recently launched an app in the Square marketplace. This could be a game changer for managing your sales and content directly—minus the larger fees you're facing on Etsy.
SendOwl makes it super straightforward to host and sell your courses right from your own domain, and it integrates smoothly with Square to handle all the transaction needs at a much friendlier cost. It's quite simple to set up and could be just what you need to take control of your marketing and sales. Let me know if you need more info on this or anything else! 🚀📚

Transitioning from Etsy to your own website is a great move for growing your business and reducing fees. While Etsy does provide a built-in marketplace of buyers, marketing your courses and digital downloads on your own site can be equally effective with the right strategy.
Advertising locally and on a larger scale does require different approaches. Locally, you can leverage community engagement and local SEO, while for a broader audience, digital marketing techniques such as social media ads, Google Ads, and email marketing can be very powerful.
It's true that running ads incurs costs, but these can be optimized to ensure you get a good return on investment. The key is to target your ads effectively and continuously monitor and adjust your campaigns.
