Can I give my customer the remaining cash amount on their gift card?

With my customer base, I am wanting to "cash out" any unused portion of a gift card. Is there a way to give back the customer's money before clearing the gift card for another customer?

Welcome to the seller community and thanks for bringing this up. 

I went to check on this request and the Square Point of Sale app is only able to refund the card originally used to complete the purchase.

If you're looking to cash out an unused portion of a gift card, you would need to process it outside of Square.

I can definitely see how an automated gift card cash-out feature would be useful for many sellers and I'll be sure to share your post with our Point of Sale team. Thanks for your patience as we are actively making improvements based on seller feedback.
