Restricting items views to specific pages

Ok, so I have created multiple pages on my square site. On one page (SHOP) I want to add items for sale and the same on a separate page (FEATURED ITEMS). Now, the problem is when I enter the items for sale into the ITEM list to appear in the FEATURED page, they will appear on the SHOP page. So how can I keep the items to appear only on the pages I want?

Hey @BuenasBurrit, thanks for your post!

Is the SHOP page using the Shop All template by any chance? If so, there isn't a way to hide items on this page at the moment. By design, it'll show case all the items currently available for purchase.

If you don't want this page to be visible, you can hide it from your navigation. That way, it'll still be there for you but customers won't be able to see it unless they have a direct link.

If you are using a template that isn't the Shop All page, you should be able to add and remove items as needed. If this isn't working, can you share a link to the particular page you're working on? I can definitely take a look on my end.

Yes tranguyen, it is the shop all template. I want to set up another page for specific promotion independent from the items on the shop all page. But as you know, the only way to get items purchasable is to add them to the ITEMS list, which by default lists all items in the shop all page (unless the item 'hidden' option is selected). Seemed a good idea to 'hide' the items so they dont show on that page, but then if an item is marked 'hidden' then it wont display anywhere and cannot be bought.

Thanks for letting me know, @BuenasBurritos

Marking an item as hidden should always work in this case as well! For example, my item French Toast is currently marked as hidden.

As a result, it does not come up on my Shop All page.

However, if I create a new [Blank] page and add the Featured items section, I can still add French Toast to this list and have it display on this page only.

I hope this will help!

Thanks for this tranguyen - I'm sure I already tried this (but will look again) - if I recall that works EXCEPT if I click French Toast to buy from your featured items - nothing happens - it doesnt take me to the shopping cart - so in effect its useless unless it takes the customer through to checkout. And I assume this happens as 'hidden' acts as the primary action preventing purchase no matter what page your on.

Hey @BuenasBurritos, I just want to follow up and check if you were able to set this up yet?

Setting an item as Hidden won't prevent it from being add to cart, only setting the item as Unavailable would do this. When an item is set as Hidden, it just means customers won't see it unless they have a direct link to it somehow. When they click into the item from the Featured Item section, it'll direct them to the specific item page and they'll still see the option to add to cart from there.

If this is not working, can you share a link to your website with me again so I can take a look here?

Hi tranguyen, ok so somehow (not sure how), but Shop All page is now clear of products I wanted restricted for Featured Items. So far so good. Now I have another problem - When a Featured Item is selected, it opens a small window for the user to select preferences which I have added in modifiers. Once any options are selected I'm assuming there should be a button at the bottom of the small pop-up window to allow them to go to the shopping cart. Unfortunately there is not button. In addition the window 'freezes' on its spot - the user cannot go back unless they refresh the entire page in the URL bar. Ive had screenshots:Here is my Burrito Meal Kit pageHere is my Burrito Meal Kit pageIve selected Chicken kit option. But as you can see, no button or link in grey area at bottom to progress the order.Ive selected Chicken kit option. Hey @BuenasBurritos, can you share a link to the website with me as well? I can try to reproduce this on my end and see if there's anything I can spot that might be causing this.

Hi Tran

It's a device/software issue - it works on my phone, but not on my Mac (which is a little dated now - using OSX 10.9.5)

Gotcha! Glad to hear it's working on your phone. If you want to share the link, I can definitely check this on my end here as well just to make sure everything is working as expected.

Thanks for sharing that! I had a look yesterday and again today as well on both my computer (using Chrome) and my phone (using Safari) and it does look like the page should load correctly for customers wishing to place an order.
