Recurring Invoice: What date is the customer's card charged?
The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Recurring Invoice Date pulled?
Hi All! I've searched but been unable to find answer
If i set up recurring invoice -i understand. My question is what day does the invoice automatically (if customer sets up that way) pull the money??? Right now i have it set up to invoice on 25th but due 6 days later. Does this mean the customer will be automatically billed/charged on their card on the 25th, or on the day its due (6 days later)
I'm assuming if I had it set up for the 25th with due immediately, it will pull on the 25th, is that true as well? Thank you!

@coachcarolin82 Great question!
If you send a recurring Invoice, and allow your customer to save their card information on file, the card is charged when the customer enters their information to pay the Invoice. The due date you set will appear in the Invoice, but your customer can pay the Invoice at any time.
If you want to charge a customer's card that you already saved:
- Click Create Invoice from the Invoices section of your online Square Dashboard.
- For the Invoice Method select "Charge Card on File".
- For the Frequency select "Recurring" and enter when you want the Invoices to be sent.
- Click Send and the recurring invoices will charge the card on file at 10 AM in your timezone (not your customer's timezone) on the day the invoice is scheduled. When you charge a card on file there isn't a due date because the card will be charged automatically.
I hope this is helpful but if you have any other questions please let me know!

This still doesn't answer my question. My question is for the automatic payments!! So say I bill someone today and they pay and allow automatic payments, and I set it up to automatically send invoice on the first of october with a due date of the 7th, will it charge their card on the 1st or on the 7th of october?????

@coachcaroline82 I'm sorry! If you set up recurring Invoices the card will be charged according to the series’ schedule — in this case they'll be charged on the 1st of the month. I see how the due date is confusing, I've shared that feedback with the Invoices team!

Thanks!
So for clarification: if I want the card to run automatically on a specific day, whatever day I set up the invoice to be sent will be the day it runs automatically. Correct?

Hello @coachcaroline82, Tom stepping in for Helen today. Correct—the date of payment is determined by the day you issue the invoice, assuming that the buyer agrees to have their card charged monthly. Hope this helps.
