How to use lightning port reader without giving Square app mic access?

The Square app won’t let me use the app unless I give it microphone access. I have the Square lightning port reader for my iPhone so there’s no reason Square should need mic access.

How can I use the Square app with my lightning port reader without giving access to my microphone?

Thanks for raising this question. It looks like another seller brought up this issue in another thread and received an answer. Have a look at RHatch's reply for more context: why am I forced to give microphone access for a magstripe that doesn't use the microphone jack?
