If you’re a Square Seller using the Brecknell 6710U scale (or any scale in the Brecknell 6700U series), you can now connect it to your Android phone or tablet to get weight readings automatically and check out your customers faster. We would love for you to give it a try and let us know about your experience!
To connect your scale correctly, you have to use the latest version of our Android app (version 5.30). Also, please ensure that you have correctly set up items to sell by weight and have connected the scale to your Android device by following the steps below.
To connect a USB scale to your device:
- You will need a particular serial cable to connect the scale to your mobile device. The 9-pin RS-232 male side plugs into the port on your scale, and the USB-A male side plugs into a hub for your Android device.
- To check the connection, open the Square Point of Sale app and tap the three horizontal lines on the navigation bar.
- Tap Settings > Scales
- The connected scale should appear as “Brecknell USB Scale” in that menu. If you do not see the scale name appear under Settings, please check the connection between your scale and relevant cables, or accessories.
To disconnect the scale, simply disconnect the cable. Keep in mind, you can only pair one USB scale with your Android device at a time.
