We have a fabric shop and want to do year end inventory.

At the same time we need to capture pictures that did not import from the prior owner's square inventory (csv file).

Any advice. we all have iphones and a scanner

Hi @appquiltyarn

This thread provides a great explanation of doing inventory with the Square for Retail app by scanning products with an iPhone and the difference between COUNT and RECEIVE.

Square has updated the scanning feature slightly since then so that you can review what you scanned before finalizing the numbers, but the process is fundamentally the same.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Hello @appquiltyarn - I see this is your first post in the Seller Community, so I'd like to officially welcome you! 🎉👏 Feel free to reach out to me or any of our Seller Community moderators if we can help with anything 😊

I am happy to help but would like to get a better idea of what you are looking for to better assist. With Square for Retail we do have an inventory counting feature that will help reconcile or combat any discrepancies. We do not have an option to upload images simultaneously. I have tagged some of our amazing super sellers that might be able to provide more insight @HC_Charlie @TCSlaguna @Doran @homeprogreen

If you’re running 1 of the Square for Retail versions then inventory is straight forward. Can use either the scanner or the IPhone. Can’t upload the pictures at the same time though. If you have 2 or 3 people though I would make a list of the items you need updated pictures for and have 1 person go through taking and uploading the pictures while the others do inventory counts. Images are really quick so that person should be able to finish up then jump back into inventory count

@appquiltyarn ,

If you have Square for Retail Plus you can follow this article:  5957-inventory-plus

Now if you are good with Google sheets or Excel.... here is a link to a video I watched on how to do a cycle count of your inventory and have it counted every X days.  This is more complex but keeps your inventory counted regularly.

 Inventory Cycle Count in Google Sheets   - It is a 20 plus minute video.

Thank you!  I've been looking for this thread; it was so helpful last year.  I'm just getting ready to do end-of-year inventory.

Hello!

I own a fabric store and currently I have to use a different POS for selling fabric in my store. For example, I have to sell fabric in fractions of a yard, such as 1/4 yard, 1/8 yard, 1/2 hard. Is there a way to use Square in this way? I do realize I may not be able to do fractions but is this possible using decimals?

Thanks!
